Healing with Sound
A sound bath experience has many benefits. In our culture we are becoming more and more aware of holistic approaches for relaxation and healing. Sound bathing calms our often overstimulated nervous systems and balances the subtle body.
Sound therapy gives you the opportunity to go inward and create your personal healing journey. There is more and more research being done on the many different effects that the power of sound frequencies have upon our well-being and spiritual growth. Sound researchers have discovered that after a period of time listening to certain types of music and sound vibrations, the parasympathetic nervous system in our bodies gives our organs and cells the signal to relax. In turn, this lowers our blood pressure, respiration and heart rates which leads to a great reduction of stress and hormones like cortisol and epinephrine.
Sound therapy has been around since the beginning of recorded history. Throughout our written history we find references to healing temples built with the intention to harness the three most powerful universal forces: sound, light and magnetics. These temples were constructed on magnetic vortexes with architecture designed to capture the power of sound and light waves. People would travel to these locations and spend several nights for a resonant recalibration of body, mind and spirit.
How does Sound heal?
When an organ or body part is healthy, it creates a natural resonant frequency in harmony with the rest of the body. When the vibration of a part of the body is out of harmony, a different sound pattern is established in the affected part of the body. When sound is projected into the area that is out of balance, correct harmonic patterns are restored.
Sounds and vibrations enter each soul independently, and each beat resonates differently from one person to the next. Ultimately, it causes a deep relaxation and rejuvenation of the spirit and mind
Every person has a different experience from the sound bath. Some can have the auditory experience, a sound massage and deep relaxation, while others can fall asleep or shift into altered states of consciousness.
Sound baths are meant to help facilitate a shift in your brainwave state. Through frequency and entrainment with sound it’s possible, to down-shift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness), with the majority of people able to reach theta (meditative state) and even delta (where internal healing can occur.
I was guided to my beautiful crystal bowls after a session with Deborah Hanekamp of Mama Medicine. I felt an instant connection to the bowls she chose for me and they have now become a part of my daily practice for bringing my mind body and soul into harmony.
Integrating different sound therapies and vibrational tools into your life on a regular basis will lead to deep peace, insights, emotional well being and healing on many levels
