There are so many reasons I’m obsessed with Warm NY. Nestled in the cool downtown neighborhood of Nolita, New York, this precious specialty shop is curated by couple Winnie Beattie and Rob Magnotta. Their love for sunshine, mountains, travel and family are the inspiration behind this gem.
The boutique is stocked with carefully and thoughtfully chosen pieces from high-end fashion designers to lesser-known independent brands. The pieces chosen from the collections always have something to do with something “warm.” Many items are procured from Beattie and Magnotta’s travels across the globe They pay attention to craftsmanship, handmade details and maintain a feeling of objects that are family owned and family oriented with mindfulness.
The Warm signature fragrance is an aroma that grabs you from the minute you walk in. Inspired by the warmth of the Hawaiian islands, they are of a blend of evocative, natural earthy scents that one would smell after spending a day at the beach. The label is an image of beautiful colors of a sunset that makes me dreamy.
Driftwood, Orchids, seaglass, and iconic surf images provide a bohemian flavor or beach vibe that has the ability to transcend you.
At Warm, clothing ranges from brands like Isabel Marant Etiole, to Vanessa Bruno, to Roseanna, as well as indie labels like Giada Forte, Electric Feathers and Re/Done denim. One of my happiest moments at Warm was seeing these beautifully hand knit cashmere caps made in Nepal. I love the idea of supporting our global communities around the world with mindful consumerism, and Warm demonstrates that beautifully. The Muzungu sisters is another line at Warm, launched by two friends that created an online portal that would promote fair labor practice by showcasing artisan crafted gifts in a sustainable manner.
Outside fashion, a showcase of exquisite jewelry from Royal Nomad and Manon Von Gurkan cannot be missed. There’s also a collection of home goods, like gorgeous ceramics and knives made from bone carved materials. I could have spent hours looking through the awesome book collection curated by Magnotta’s favorites, ranging from surf culture to music, travel and fashion.
Warm’s apocatherapy selection offers some of organic products and great nurturing ingredients. Its rare to find such a department that supplies all of organic nurturing ingredients so carefully sourced. New to the collection is the Mama Love essential oils. The Parramoure essential oils feature hand made organic blends. The Tony and Tina vibrational remedies and arnica muscle rub from Moon Valley Organics are divine.
Warm also carries the Industry of all Nations men’s line developed horizontally in collaboration with local communities around the world. It is determined to combine environmental and social awareness while promoting fair trade. But this past Spring, the collaboration between Winnie and designer Tracy Feith. launched a women’s ready-to-wear wholesale line. Inspired by a 1970’s vintage Malibu housewife, the pieces are sensible and beachy with loose and easy fits in fabrics of cotton voile and filmy silk feel. I purchased a pair of high waisted denim flairs that looked as if I purchased them from a vintage store, yet they had the perfect fit, and the quality of the denim is so luxe.
Whether you need a pick me up or you’re simply in the mood to get warm, stop into Warm NY and I’m sure you’ll walk out with something that warms your heart. Warm NY181 Mott street NYC
